This exercise is a warm-up, helping you to explore initial questions and expand your thinking beyond the human world.

• Agree on a question or two that you will immerse yourselves in to broaden your thinking beyond the human world. Here are two ideas for questions to get you started:

• How might we bring soil health into everyday consumption decisions?
• How might we create a common language for soil health? </aside>

Steps:

• Split into small groups. Supply each with stickies and pens.
• Encourage each group to think about the question in relation to the natural world first, then the human world.
• This is an ideation session, so work fast and minimise analysis.
• Capture everything that comes to mind and throw it onto a sticky note.
• Leave five minutes for each group to share the ideas that emerged.
• Look for themes or any ideas that surprise or inspire people, you can use the doughnut diagram to position whether ideas are in scope and how much of a focus they should have. </aside>

Non-Human Personas are a way to create an emotional connection with nature and non-human entities through scientific research, creativity and imagination. They are a way for us to connect with and understand the needs and perspectives of nonhuman nature.
